Frequently asked questions

  • Is there a free trial?
    The UniFi Protect Self-Monitored plan is free for 30 days on new accounts — every feature of the tier, with a credit card required to start so monitoring continues uninterrupted after day 30. Cancel any time before day 30 to avoid being charged. UniFi Protect Professionally Monitored bills at checkout, with live agent dispatch active from day one.
  • What counts as an alarm event?
    Every distinct alarm signal that reaches our platform — a UniFi Protect Alarm Manager fire, an operator-raised camera incident, etc. Self-cancellations within the entry-delay window don't count. Tests and supervisory signals don't count. Only real alarms billed.
  • Do the video-monitoring tiers limit how many cameras I can have?
    No. Every video tier monitors all the UniFi Protect cameras at your site. The tiers differ by how many operator-verified events are included each month — Lite 20, Standard 60, Plus 120, Max 240 — and the camera counts on each tier are simply our suggestion for which quota suits a site of that size. Events above the quota bill per event. Sites that need more than the Max quota can ask for a custom quote.
  • What deterrence tools come with video monitoring?
    Every video tier includes siren response, where a confirmed threat automatically sounds the UniFi sirens at your site. It is opt-in per camera, so you choose which cameras are allowed to trigger it. Two-way talk-down — operators speaking to whoever is on camera through the camera's own speaker — is coming soon.
  • Can I switch plans later?
    Yes — change plan tiers from the customer portal at any time. Plan changes prorate within the current Stripe billing cycle, so you only pay the difference (or get credited for the difference) for the remainder of the month.
  • I'm a security dealer — is this the right pricing?
    No — these are the public customer rates. Dealer pricing is private and volume-tiered: dealers pay below these prices on every UniFi Protect plan, with deeper rates as your customer base grows. See the dealer program and request a quote — your customers’ subscriptions roll up to one monthly invoice on your Stripe account.
  • Are prices in USD or CAD?
    Both. Canadian visitors see CAD pricing by default; everyone else sees USD. Use the USD ⇄ CAD toggle above the plans to switch the displayed currency. Stripe charges your card in the currency shown.
